About Me
Since obtaining my undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems, I have been working in the academic environment. My interest in Educational Technology started while I was working as a Support Specialist at Oklahoma State University.
My exposure to the educational technology field widened when I ventured into another position with The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. My challenges in this position have been to create and deliver interactive objects for online courses. One of my responsibilities, and also my favorite task, is to provide training in using various learning management systems and other computer software.
If I was asked to describe myself, I would say the following:
Creative: I met with a lot of faculty members throughout my years in the Instructional field. Every faculty member has different views and needs when it comes to teaching, especially teaching with technology. It is my goal to accommodate their needs to reach their goals and objectives. For example, determine which educational technology tool that can be utilized best to accommodate at least two learning styles.
Motivated: Most of my courses in my master’s program were online. It took a lot of self-motivation and discipline to complete my master’s degree in just two years. During this time, I was both a full-time student and employee. The course projects challenged me, and I was motivated to apply what I learned and transformed the new knowledge into a work project, hoping to prove my new skills as an asset to my employer and to my professors as well.
Problem-solver: Being in any work force, constraints exist and occur. Most of the time, budget is a constraint in the academic sector. To overcome this problem, one has to find a solution. For example, instead of purchasing images for a project, I solved the problem by capturing the images myself.
Flexibility: During my ten years in the instructional field, I have successfully collaborated with many higher education faculty members and subject matter experts (SME). I enjoy working with others and am also able to work individually.
I enjoy being in the instructional field and hoping to continue in this field throughout my career.
