Professional Goals

Since completing my Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems, I have been working in the academic environment. My interest in Educational Technology started while I was working as a Support Specialist at Oklahoma State University.  To educateTwo of my biggest accomplishments during my tenure were the development of a professional engineering course on CD and the implementation of an exam delivered via a learning management system platform.

My exposure to the educational technology field widened when I ventured into another position with The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. My responsibilities in this position have been to create and deliver interactive objects for online courses. One of my job assignments, and also my favorite task, is to provide training in using various learning management systems and other computer software. While in this position, I have successfully created learning objects such as interactive games, video tutorials, offline and online courses, and posters. Part of my job responsibilities include teaching faculty to develop and utilize these learning objects in their curriculum.

Using technology in learning is convenient, easy to use and everywhere! However, without a solid educational background, it can be misused. With my working experiences and exposure to the academic sector, my interest in this field has grown and motivated me to seek further education that can help me to broaden my scope of understanding. I was thrilled that I got accepted to the Master of Science in Educational Technology program with Oklahoma State University.

During this program, I learned a lot about the different learning styles, theories and educational technology tools. Even though I have been in the instructional field for many years, the courses and assignments were challenging to me. In some courses, I was fortunate to apply what I learned and transformed the new knowledge into a work project.
